Mackenzie Sillem has been working in the International Education field for 16 years. The past 11 have found her working in the Faculty of International Education at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, BC on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation. In her current role as Coordinator, International Student Retention, Mackenzie is working to facilitate ongoing intercultural fluency development at VIU through formal and informal learning opportunities.
In addition to a BA in Environmental Studies, Mackenzie holds a Certificate in Intercultural Studies, is a Qualified Administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and for the Global Competencies Inventory (GCI/IES) and in 2013 was selected as a Fellow at the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication.
